haustierpraxis in hausen

We believe your pet is special. We aim to build a positive relationship from the first step and interaction. From puppy class through flea application we ensure your pet enjoys its stay with us. And when more diagnostics are needed, we are lucky to have the most diagnostic tools inhouse. Thus, we can quickly decide what is necessary at the very stage to avoid nonessential analysis.

We recommend an annual checkup for your pet. We believe in prophylaxis and are certain that addressing problems in early stages is the best way to keep your loved ones happy and healthy. An annual check-up will include a full physical exam and may include teeth and gum cleaning if needed.

Vaccination is the most important element to keep infections and dangerous disease away. What kind of vaccination is needed depends on the specific circumstances and your destinations abroad. We enjoy discussing and recommending what is right for your pet. We base our decision on our experience and the vaccination recommendations of the Swiss Board for Companion Animals.

In addition to parasites like ticks, flea or intestinal worms being annoying they can transmit serious diseases. Therefore, a periodical antiparasitic treatment is reasonable from our point of view. There are different possibilities to do so like spot-ons, sprays, tablets or collars.
We are happy to provide advice what would be the best way for your pet.

Intestinal parasites like tapeworms, hookworms, lungworms, whipworms or roundworms can be treated by regular deworming or you can let us check the feces on a regular base. If we do find worm eggs, we can treat your pet immediately with the adequate remedy. Important is : do follow one way or the other continuously to avoid gaps and massive shedding of worm eggs.

We base our treatments and prophylaxis advice on the scientific standards of the European Scientific Counsel Companion Animal Parasites (ESCCAP)

Fit for travel? If you think about vacation or visiting family or friends in the South like the Mediterranean area or in the South of the United States or Australia please contact us early.
Depending of your favorite destinations there might be some specific diseases of concern. The most frequent tropical-specific illnesses are transmitted by ticks or mosquitos. These are e.g. leishmaniosis, babesiosis and anaplasmosis. They are parasites of the blood and can cause serious problems. Another parasite which can affect your pet is heartworm (dirofilariasis). This kind of worm is living in the blood vessels and sometimes in the heart. It can lead to sudden death and prostration.

Teeth and gum have to do their job every day. Often dogs and cats develop dental plaque and calculus which are a perfect matrix for bacteria to grow. These bacteria are the source of bad breath and infection of the gum. The final stage is losing teeth. To avoid this, you can give your pet special feed and chewing bones. At a certain degree dental plaque and calculus have to be removed. We are happy to offer you professional teeth and gum care including specialist counselling in prophylaxis, and if it is getting worse in gentle cleaning and extraction.

Our well experienced veterinarians are keen to give your pet the best service possible. A profound diagnostic is essential to get to the heart of the matter. Our veterinarians are familiar with all types of conditions and treatments. The base of a precise diagnosis is the medical history of your pet. If you have a journal of your pet’s heath please show it us. It would be great to share it with you. If you do not have any written journal please let us know all you think it might be important. Every information is important in the diagnostic puzzle. Further diagnostic possibilities like blood analyzing or digital x-ray are at hand at our practice. At a certain point it could be better to transfer your pet to a specialist who has advanced expertise in the specific area needed. In this case we do not hesitate to refer your pet to our peer.
